Dignitaries, official representatives, landowners and volunteers will be taking part in a special tree planting event Sunday June 08 in the southern portion of the Beaver Hills Biosphere (BHB).

The Global Foundation for Social Harmony and Sustainable Development (GFoundation) hopes the event will inspire individuals and groups to step up efforts to protect the globally significant wetlands and watersheds, where they live.
Event organized in partnership
The event was organized by GF’s “Miquelon Watershed Stewardship Committee” (MWSC), in partnership with the Battle River Watershed Alliance (BRWA) and North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance (NSWA) to assemble unique elements in the tree planting, surrounding the boundary between the Beaver and Camrose counties. The June 08 celebration will inaugurate MWSC.

The event will officially open at 1:00 PM with a special indigenous ceremony, and blessing, accompanied by violin music. Participants will then be invited to plant trees (or help to), along their respective sides of the “Great Divide,’ where the surface waters of the Battle and North Saskatchewan Rivers separate – a ‘stone’s throw’ from the ceremonial site.

The ‘Great Divide’ is a public event, for family and friends. A closing ceremony with music and song will invite you to a 4pm celebration at the Spilstead Community Hall (see below).
For food, refreshments, live music and merriment attendees (for tree planting and/or for the celebration) must pre-register, by sending a message to gf@gfoundation.ca.
The focus will be on tree planting and a call to heal the land, with emphasis on inspiring people and groups to help boost future tree planting – especially, within and around the Beaver Hills Biosphere. It will also be a call to healing.
After June 08, surrounding landowners will follow suit by planting trees on their own land.
A $20 donation for the celebration can be paid HERE beforehand or at the door (with confirmation).
Participants can avoid possible parking delays at the site by arriving 30-45 minutes sooner .
