The Global Foundation for Social Harmony and Sustainable Development (GFoundation) will mark its annual meeting next Sunday, August 21, as another milestone in the organisation’s 22-year history.

Members, volunteers and observers are welcome to join activities during the day, including the Annual Meeting.

“This year we’ll celebrate the substantial advances GF has made in preserving or restoring its watersheds, wetlands and wildlife” says the President Winston Gereluk. A guided tour of a GF restoration project is planned at 11 am before, the meeting on 21 August – as part of this family-oriented event.

“Participants of the Annual meeting will hear of our efforts to reach out to over 500 neighbours who live on 15,000 acres (6,070 hectares) of land that surround us, and to invite them to join us in supporting the UN designated Beaver Hills Biosphere, in which we live.”

After the meeting, participants will be invited to plant at least one tree, to celebrate the organisation’s progress. Tree planting remains a main focus of GF’s activities for promoting biodiversity in our forests and guiding its orientations on climate change. Gereluk took the opportunity to thank the many volunteers who helped plant trees at last June’s annual event.

With a steady growth in its volunteer base and the number of groups it works with, GF is taking a long-term approach to planning its future, with new committees in place and a transition plan to become self sufficient by 2028.
