GFoundation was created in 2003 by a group of Canadian environmentalist and trade unionists, some of whom were involved at the United Nations for the adoption and follow up of sustainable development principles, expressed in the UN’s Agenda 21, and today integrated within the UN’s Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and similar goals of other institutions.

The basis of their work at the United Nations, prior to establishing GFoundation, was to add voice to the call for better integration of economic policy with environmental practice and social development:

GFoundation has been involved in a broad range of practical issues to better integrate sustainable development: See Here and including:

  • Climate action and life on the land (MDG goal #13 and #15)
  • Wetland and watershed protections
  • Climate Change, Species Diversity & Tree Planting
  • Corporate and government accountability
