{"id":2579,"date":"2025-02-14T14:04:06","date_gmt":"2025-02-14T21:04:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gfoundation.ca\/staging\/7325\/?post_type=news&#038;p=2579"},"modified":"2025-04-16T15:31:26","modified_gmt":"2025-04-16T21:31:26","slug":"unbio-2-2-2-2","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/gfoundation.ca\/staging\/7325\/news\/unbio-2-2-2-2\/","title":{"rendered":"GF introduces wetland protections into new Beaver County development bylaw"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"mobileWidthFormating wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A new development plan for Beaver County was recently adopted, which incorporates amendments requested by the Global Foundation for Social Harmony &amp; Sustainable Development to include wetland protections when issuing licenses and permits for future development applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/gfoundation.ca\/staging\/7325\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Judith-680x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-339\" style=\"width:164px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gfoundation.ca\/staging\/7325\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Judith-680x1024.jpg 680w, https:\/\/gfoundation.ca\/staging\/7325\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Judith-600x903.jpg 600w, https:\/\/gfoundation.ca\/staging\/7325\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Judith-199x300.jpg 199w, https:\/\/gfoundation.ca\/staging\/7325\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Judith.jpg 730w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GFoundation Vice-President Judith Basisty said the changes follow written submissions and public hearing appearances, over the last year and resulted in the addition of wetland protections for Beaver County\u2019s vision of goals and for County Residential Development within the Beaver Hills Biosphere.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wetlands were also considered and incorporated into the development of recreation and green spaces, environmentally sensitive areas and for planning and implementation measures thus enabling wetland assessments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe changes speak highly of the Beaver County\u2019s commitments to involve its citizens in its policy development and practices and sends a clear message to individuals that its worth getting involved in local efforts to support County initiatives\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Alberta a municipal development plan (MDP) is a key policy document that shapes and guides long term land uses and changes in any County or municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GFoundation\u2019s history of involvement with Beaver County began in 2019 when it worked with landowners <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1w_6gNAjV_vSX6A3Pjeu3zdWFsvo2FV2f\/view?usp=sharing\">to block the sale of environment reserved land<\/a> by the municipality.
