GFoundation tree planting launched on World Environment Day, Sunday, June 04<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The GFoundation will kick off its tree planting for 2023 on Sunday June 4th at its headquarters, marking the onset of World Environment Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis year we will join environmentalists around the world by planting our nine thousandth tree, a figure that will only increase in the future,\u201d said Winston Gereluk, President of the Global Foundation for Social Harmony and Sustainable Development (GF). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe will continue to refine our planting techniques, as well as our maintenance program, to improve tree survival and health, particularly for future large-scale plantings.\u201d This year\u2019s tree planting by volunteers will take place on wetland restoration sites, pilot & experimental plots, nurseries, two different watersheds and in moderately sized fields. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volunteers will also plant trees in some of the twelve GF Groves established to commemorate special individuals<\/a> or organisations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Begins with<\/em><\/strong> an orientation on Sunday at 1pm.
Ends in<\/em><\/strong> late afternoon with song, live music, campfire, & a potluck dinner<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gereluk was critical of the plethora of tree planting schemes that are undertaken without any reliable reporting of survival rates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBiodiversity & climate change goals will only be met through reliable, targeted actions and measurable results.\u201d he warned. \u201cThe widespread lack of such measures highlights the need to deepen our knowledge about methods that improve the survival of planted trees everywhere\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gereluk invited volunteers to confirm their participation a.s.a.p., adding they should plan to stay for the campfire social that will follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
