YOU and your family are invited to this year’s tree planting near Tofield, Alberta, as part of an effort to restore wetlands and strengthen their resilience to climate changes. The event is timed around World Environment Day, calling for “collective, transformative action on a global scale to celebrate, protect and restore our planet”.’

People of all ages are welcome to an orientation and planting, which will begin at 1PM each day and end in the late afternoon with song, campfire and a potluck dinner. Please send your confirmation or questions to [email protected]. Directions and more detail will be sent to those who confirm their attendance.

GFoundation President Winston Gereluk says the unique landscape and watersheds at its headquarters and surroundings fall within the UN-designated Beaver Hills Biosphere. “We want to create a common knowledge base of key issues and actions with and amongst our neighbours”.

“Tree planting is a first step to understanding broader issues, and to developing supportive communities, in the decades ahead”, Gereluk said

GFoundation reached out to its neighbours last March by delivering information packages at property gates (see right inset) and documenting stories about what its neighbours are already doing.

Trees planted at GFoundation form the basis of a commemoration program, within special groves and gardens.

YOU ARE INVITED!

Saturday, June 4th and Sunday, June 5th

1:00 pm – 5:00 pm tree planting

followed by a campfire celebration

Last March volunteers adorned over 500 property gates of tenants occupying the 15,000 acres, surrounding GFoundation headquarters, in Beaver and Camrose counties, with an information package about their wetlands and watersheds, making it the most extensive educational project yet undertaken by the organization.

These 15,000 acres (6,070 ha.) are significant because they surround GFoundation’s headquarters and lie within the UN-designated Beaver Hills Biosphere, east of Edmonton.

Recipients of the package entered a draw for $100 or $50 gift certificates from Classic Landscape.
