GFoundation Tree Planting 2024 begins Sunday, June 2nd World Environment Week
The GFoundation will kick off its tree planting program for 2024 at its headquarters on Sunday June 2nd, to mark the beginning of World Environment Week, and has plans to plant over 1,000 trees with landowners, at and surrounding its headquarters, according to Winston Gereluk, President of the Global Foundation for Social Harmony and Sustainable Development (GF).
“We are appealing to our members and volunteers to be part of this effort,” said Gereluk. “With their help, we should be able to comfortably plant 18,000 trees by 2025, a goal we set when we first began planting”. World Environment Day is on June 05 when planting will be completing.
GFoundation will plant trees at or near its headquarters located near Tofield & Camrose, Alberta for World Environment Week.

Volunteers are covered by the Alberta Workers’ Compensation Boards (WCB)
Gereluk urges volunteers to confirm their participation for June 02 as soon as possible by sending a message to [email protected] and to receive additional details about the planting day.
This year’s tree planting will take place at or on properties near GFs’ headquarters near Tofield, Alberta. It will include wetland restoration sites, pilot and experimental plots, nurseries, over two different watersheds and some isolated fields.
In addition, the GFoundation has partnered with the Congress of Union Retirees of Canada (CURC) to ask seniors and unions across Canada to plant trees on their property, commencing with World Environment Week. They are asked to register these plantings with the GFoundation.
Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and held annually on 5 June since 1973, World Environment Day is the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated by millions of people across the world. GFoundation’s planting will take place from June 2–7, to embrace June 5 World Environment Day.
